Parent's Education Class
Parents of children enrolled in Pre-Suzuki Together study the philosophy and history of Suzuki Talent Education. A registered Suzuki instructor introduces parents to solutions for successful home practice sessions including tips on child motivation, encouragement, and inspirational practice ideas. All new parents and children are encouraged to observe private and group instrumental lessons during the term of the course. This process helps in the decision of choosing an instrument, and offers opportunities to see the Suzuki triangle in action and is crucial for future success. There are 6 to 10 weeks of group class and six weeks of instrumental instruction included in this introductory class to Suzuki Talent Education
 
Instrument Exploration For The Begginer
Introductory courses are offered for each of the following instruments: Cello, Flute, Guitar, Keyboard/Piano, Violin and Clarinet. These enjoyable explorations are for students who wish to begin a new instrumental study, or musicians with a desire to learn a new instrument. Playing technique and music reading are covered. Continuing study in these instruments is available in private, shared, or group classes
 
Introduction to Drumming

All ages explore the fundamentals of drumming, music reading, notation and composing in this introductory course to percussion. Snare drum sticks and a practice pad are required. Group Class.

 
Fundamental Success for Saxophone

This class is designed to help the beginning student of saxophone develop proper fundamentals.  Through a systematic approach, posture, breathing, embouchure, tone development, and articulation, proper playing habits are developed to ensure the greatest amount of success in a timely and efficient manner. 

 
Introduction to Composition

A comprehensive introduction to the principles of composition. Students will analyze major forms and styles of classical composers as well as creating original works. Theoretical knowledge is required for this class.

 
Saxophone Ensemble (intermediate and advanced)

This class will focus on developing ensemble performance in classical and jazz styles.  Working as a team to develop musicianship, technique, and intonation, and diverse repertoire will be explored to enhance the student's appreciation of the saxophone's diversity.

 
String Ensemble for Adults

A broad cross section of classical, folk and even jazz repertoire. Group interaction builds both independence of the individual performer and collaborative skills within a group setting.Minimum one year experience with a private teacher, all ages welcome.

 
Cello Ensemble Group Class

A broad cross section of classical, folk and even jazz repertoire played by an all cello consortium. Minimum one year experience with a private teacher, all ages welcome. Music Appreciation and cello choir.

 
Community Chorus

Adults of all ages are invited to participate in a community-wide advanced chorus. Sight-reading skills are preferable though not required.  Vocal technique is taught through alignment, breath control, diction and vowel production (Bel Canto style). The repertoire will encompass all genres and languages, while learning at an exciting pace. Concerts in Tucson/Oro Valley make for an enjoyable evening to share with friends and family.

 
Small Chamber Ensembles (Strings, Flute, Clarinet, Piano and Voice)
Chamber music is a perfect venue to foster both solo and group performance skills. Chamber ensemble musicians learn to be responsible for their own part while listening to and communicating with group members. This interaction builds both independence of the individual performer and collaborative skills within a group setting. After a brief placement audition, ensembles are carefully formed according to ability. Coaches assist with repertoire choices and offer tips on communication and leadership skills within the group.
 
Music Theory

Music Theory instruction at the Music Academy provides ample opportunity for interaction between students and teacher, with students frequently benefiting from questions and points raised by their peers.  Group activities include sight-singing, ear-training, and rhythmic dictation activities all specifically geared towards the materials covered in the Arizona Study Program and Royal American Conservatory Exam texts.
