INTRODUCTORY / General Group Music Courses

Instrument Exploration (ages 7 to 11)
In this one semester course students are introduced to Flute, Guitar, Violin and Cello through a ‘hands-on’ experience This class experience provides an excellent foundation for private lessons on any instrument and assists children and their parents in the often-difficult process of deciding which instrument to play.
 
Piano Keyboard Class (ages 7 to 11)
This class is designed to provide early inter-related music experiences with melody, harmony, and rhythm. Ear training, notes, rhythm, and keyboard familiarization are introduced through the use of songs and creative movement.
 
Introduction to Violin (for students 7 and up, parent participation encouraged)
In a group setting, children discover the joy and excitement of learning the violin, utilizing basic Suzuki principles. Topics to be covered include: ear training, the parts of the violin and proper care and handling of the instrument. With a carefully guided approach, this class will create the foundation for advanced learning and musical enjoyment.
 
Fundamental Success for Saxophone (ages 10+)
This class is designed to help the beginning student of saxophone develop proper fundamentals.  Through a systematic approach, posture, breathing, embouchure, tone development, and articulation, proper playing habits are developed to ensure the greatest amount of success in a timely and efficient manner.  
 
Fundamentals of Singing (ages 7 to 12)
This class helps to develop music knowledge and singing abilities. Topics including proper vocal technique, posture, tone production and diction are stressed. Folk songs, musical theater and classical selections are taught, as well as elements of music theory and sight singing.
 
Children's Chorus (ages 7 to 11)
Beginning voices learn the basics of singing in a chorus. Designed for children who love to sing. Sight singing, part-singing, musicianship skills and a diverse repertoire are explored. Unison ands part songs will be explored. Music literacy and ear training are an integral part of this course.
 
Introduction to Drumming (ages 7 and up)
All ages explore the fundamentals of drumming, music reading, notation and composing in this introductory course to percussion. Snare drum sticks and a practice pad are required. Group Class.
